Motherhood is a bitch, Simple, and only the moms would understand what I mean when I say that. Yesterday evening became a nightmare and all I could do was cry. I had worked all day, went to the gym, and ran errands...naturally I was exhausted right? But I wanted to cook my baby girl a nice dinner and watch a Christmas movie to end the night, well that was the farthest thing from what had happened. I had made this nice dinner for her, and as soon as I gave it to her she threw the whole plate into the floor, and said "no." I just stood there and stared. I just spent 40 minutes cooking a nice dinner just for her, and she had threw it into the floor for absolutely no reason. As I began to become frustrated, she just started being an absolute terror, kicking, screaming, crying, yelling.. you name it, and that was what was going down in my house behind closed doors. Eventually, I just sat down and felt tears streaming down my face. I was beat. I was exhausted, and I was only trying to make her happy. I texted my one friend who I knew would understand...I thought I had it bad with ONE toddler, she has three babies all under two. Her advice was golden. Life happens. We get to pick and choose what battles we want to fight in life, and some of them just are not worth it. Fast forward, we ended the night going to bed early, the house was a disaster, we didn't eat dinner, and I was drained..
Adalynn woke up this morning, rolled over and kissed me. She said "hey mama, milk please," and that is when it hit me. Its a new day. A fresh start. Today will be better. My friend who truly understood what I was feeling the night before sent me an E-gift card for a coffee, with the quote " Life Happens, Coffee Helps," I got baby girl off to school, went and got a large coffee, and here I am...writing this blog. Sometimes we just need a friend who can listen. We need not to be harsh on ourselves, and take every day as a victory in one way or another. We are all doing our best. Life Happens.
Cheers to a new day.
